Closing time in New Delhi

It felt like something between an evening prayer and a street rampage. It was “Holi”, the most import holiday in the Hindu world.

  • The hustle and bustle in the bumpy side streets and alleys of Central Delhi's old neighborhoods were tremendous. The chaos of a seven-day workweek seemed never-ending. But when the sun set over Paharganj on the first of the two national holidays celebrating spring, the spirit of New Delhi's Hindu districts took on a serene evening mood.
